Shreveport, LA — Five children nearly drowned after being swept away by rainwater run-off this afternoon in Shreveport's Southern Hills neighborhood..
Officials say the children were walking in an open drainage ditch near the intersection of Mansfield Road and Southland Park Drive when it happened.
One of the children tells KMSS that a wave washed the kids at least 5 blocks.
The Shreveport Fire Department had mounted a rescue attempt, but the children managed to grab onto limbs and pull themselves unharmed from the ditch.
The kids range in age from 8 to 13 years-old, and all have been reunited with their parents.
