A toddler was found wandering alone in a west Waco neighborhood earlier today.

It happened around 12:15 p.m. this afternoon when officers were called to the 900 block of N. 66th Street where a citizen found an 18-month-old child wandering the street.

The child had no shoes or diaper on.

The citizen rescued the child and waited with him until officers arrived.

Patrol Officers, Detectives, and Crime Scene Techs started doing a door to door search in the neighborhood in an attempt to find the child's parents.

Crime Scene Technicians went to the 1000 block of N. 66th Street and found the child's father, Donald Klassy, 23.

Police believe the child had been gone from the home for about an hour and the father had no clue. Officers searched the house where they found 15 grams of Methamphetamines, syringes, and Xanex pills in the room where the baby sleeps.

The mother of the child, Monica Wood, 30, showed up some time later and was found to have outstanding warrants with Hewitt Police Department.

Child Protective Services were called to the scene and the child has been removed from the home and plans are being made to place the child with a foster family.

Waco Police Department Victim Services were called to the scene and have taken over the child until the foster family is determined.

Klassy has been charged with endangering a child and possession of a controlled substance.

Wood has been charged with warrants from Hewitt Police Department.
