1 killed, 2 critically injured in I-20 crash near Ruston

A major two-vehicle crash involving a semi killed one person near the city of Ruston Thursday night.

At 11:30 p.m., state troopers responded to the wreck on Interstate 20, about 12 miles west of Ruston.

An investigation reveals a car, driven by Michael Hubbard, 25, of Shreveport, was heading east on Interstate 20 when it crossed the median and hit an 18-wheeler, driven by David Alday, of Jaurez, Mexico, 41, traveling west on I-20.

Hubbard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. Two passengers in the car, Andrew Perkins, 25 of Shreveport, Jarde Miller, 23,  of Bossier City, were taken to a Shreveport hospital with critical injuries. A third passenger in the car, a minor, was also taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.

Alday was wearing his seat belt and did not report any injuries. Investigators do not believe he was impaired in any way when the crash occurred.
