Sheveport (KMSS) — Authorities are working to learn more about a collision involving a train and vehicle in west Shreveport Wednesday morning.
Slightly before 9:30 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of Claiborne Avenue and Mansfield Road on reports of a train crashing into a vehicle. According to information gathered at the scene, Judy Henderson, 60, drove her truck into the path of a train in an attempt to beat the locomotive across the tracks.
While there are no crossing arms at the crossing, all emergency warning devices appeared to be fully operable at the time of the accident.
The train, consisting of just two engines, was believed to moving at 25 miles per hour when it went into full emergency brake mode, but still was not able to avoid Henderson's vehicle.
Henderson, who is expected to be ticketed later, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
