1 dead, another injured after wrecking stolen truck
Caddo Parish, La — After allegedly stealing a pickup, one man was injured and another killed in a fiery Caddo Parish crash Monday night.
According to Sheriff Steve Prator, the wreck happened on Bostwick Road when a truck left the roadway, hit a tree and caught fire.
The passenger was identified as Austin Guin, 19, of Shreveport. He is currently being treated at a Shreveport hospital. The driver, identified by Guin as his brother, died in the crash. His name will not be released until he is identified by the Coroner’s Office.
Officials say the truck had been reported stolen not long before the crash. Keith Davis, 22, said he left the truck running at a house on Jeanette after he got into an argument with a group of men, including Austin Guin. During the incident, he was hit twice in the face, so he ran for safety. He then saw his truck being driven away and reported it to the Caddo Sheriff’s Office. A deputy discovered the wreckage around 9:15 p.m. while searching for the stolen truck.
The crash and events leading up to it are still under investigation.
