A teacher at the Academic Recovery School in Shreveport was arrested by Caddo deputies today for simple battery of a student, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Alvin Orlando Williams, 53, of Mansfield, was arrested on a warrant obtained by Sheriff’s Detective Jackie Winston and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on the misdemeanor offense. Bond on the warrant was set at $2,500.
The incident occurred at the school on February 7. Winston said a 14-year-old student who was being teased by other students tried to leave the classroom to go to the principal’s office. When Williams tried to prevent him from leaving, the student cursed Williams and attempted to walk out. Williams then grabbed the student around neck to further prevent him from leaving. The incident caused scratches and a mark on the student’s neck.
