Shreveport's keeping a close eye on water intake at the Lucas Wastewater Treatment Plant this week. The next several days could determine whether mandatory restrictions will be enforced.
Wes Wyche, Environmental Services Manager, says he thinks it's unlikely as cooler temperatures lead to a decline in water use. But he adds that the provision that allows for mandatory conservation will stay in place. "It's a policy that we have in place year-round and if the drought were to continue, the policy's going to continue. This is always something we're going to be looking at," he says.
The provision was announced at last week's city council meeting. South Caddo Parish is already under mandatory conservation orders, pending an uptick in the area's well water levels.
