The search continues for a missing East Texas boater, who was flung into the Red River after an accident Wednesday. Crews remained at River Bend Marina in Elm Grove throughout much of the day Thursday, returning for the search's third day Friday.
The boater is identified as Dan Stanley of Bivens, Texas. His cousin, Jerry Smith, was found on the shore Wednesday, suffering from a head wound and hypothermia. Wesley Walker of Wildlife & Fisheries says the accident may have happened when the boaters turned to avoid a sand bar, accidentally hitting a rock jetty.
A helicopter and K-9 unit were ono the scene Thursday. Kerry Foster of the Shreveport Fire Department says someone will remain at the scene to search throughout the next several days until a body is discovered.
