The day after Bowie County officials released the identity of the teen suspect in the murders of a Redwater and her two children, Redwater residents say they're still dealing with the shock, even though 17-year-old Rachel Pittman was first arrested in August.
"Redwater and the surrounding communities were all devastated. You know, the loss of the Doss kids, they just couldn't believe something of that nature could go on in this part of the country," said Redwater mayor Robert Lorance, who described how the town has pulled together since the murders in May 2011.
Officials confirm Pittman's bond is set at 3 million dollars. Her name was announced after it was ruled she will be tried as an adult. She was moved from an undisclosed juvenile facility into the Bi-State Judicial Center this week. If convicted, she faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
