New "mobile vet" making rounds in East Texas

We've all heard of mobile homes...but mobile vets? It's something new to the Ark-La-Tex, after the Animal Protection League introduced the new unit, fully equipped with licensed veterinarians and trained staff. The Animal Protection League has two stationary offices in Longview and Sulfur Springs, but Sheila Phillips, executive director, said they saw a need for more. "When you look towards the Dallas area, there's a lot of other low-cost services out there...when you come out east of Longview, there's nothing out there. We've had people drive from out in these areas to our Longview office," she said.

The mobile vet comes to Marshall every other Monday. It also makes rounds to Mineola and Henderson. Annual vaccinations are $25. Spays and neuters begin at $35. Appointments are required for spays or neuters, but not vaccinations. If you want to make an appointment, call the mobile hotline number at (903) 440-4911.
