The last few weeks have been full of shake-ups for the Hallsville Police Department, which terminated Police Chief Greg Scott and two of its three officers in late December. Following a public outcry of support, however, all of them will get their jobs back.
That news comes after a city council meeting where residents rallied to voice support for the officers. Carolyn Franco, who spearheaded a petition, said she gathered about 250 names. "These guys are family to everybody here in town. You know, they've been here a long time and I think the majority of Hallsville think they've done a really good job," she said.
According to Franco, the council voted 3-2 late last night after almost three hours of statements and discussion. There's no word yet on when the officers might return or what will happen to the newly hired personnel the city hired to replace them.
