The day before the CQMS Razer factory in Mansfield was scheduled to re-open after a furlough, employees got some bad news. The plant is suspending its mining equipment manufacturing for at least another week. A notice posted on the wall said it came "as a result of insufficient economical production volume."
CQMS Razer acquired the Hendrix plant in 2010, where it promised it planned to create 230 jobs by 2017. Now it appears the 60 workers who remain may be out of work. "I don't think it was far," said Tiffany Wingler, Mansfield resident. "Especially during the Christmas holidays, not to tell them they were fired or off work, you know, it was wrong."
The notice to employees says it "hope(s) to get back to you with further information by or before December 9."
Plant representatives did not respond to reqests for comment, but a statement from the mayor said it would work with the factory however it could to be sure the jobs remained in Mansfield.
