Caddo deputy injured when gun fired accidentally
A Caddo Sheriff's deputy was taken to the hospital after his gun discharged and shot him in the leg Monday evening.
Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator told FOX 33 that Deputy Larry Trant was getting out of his work van at the Caddo Correctional Re-Entry Facility. As he re-holstered his gun, it accidentally fired hitting him in the thigh and exiting through his calf.
"We train and train and train, but sometimes some thing will mess up, and this did. And it wasn't intentional, it was just an accident and he'll be okay," said Prator. No inmates were around when the gun discharged.
The sheriff said they will review the incident to see how the sheriff's office can make sure their deputies are safe.
As of Monday evening, Deputy Trant was said to be in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
