BOSSIER CITY - Bossier City has named a new police chief.
The Shreveport Times reports Mayor Lorenz "Lo" Walker announced Sergeant Patrick McWilliams will be the new head of the department.
McWilliams is a detective with the city's violent crime division.
Nine current Bossier City officers, a retired Bossier City officer and a Lake Charles Police Department officer applied to take the chief's test March 16.
The new chief will replace former Chief Mike Halphen, who retired in February.
