Shreveport Police say a total of five suspects have now been arrested in connection with well over a dozen armed robberies occurring over the past several months, dating back as early as June 1, of this year. The arrests came on the heels of a month long joint investigation involving members of the Shreveport Police Department's Tactical Robbery Unit, along with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. Authorities were conducting surveillance of suspected robbery "hot spots" on November 14, 2012, when their efforts hit pay dirt as three suspects were spotted fleeing the scene of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Outback Steakhouse in the 8800 block of Line Ave. Following a brief vehicle pursuit, the three suspects were apprehended and taken into custody at East 75th Street at Southern Avenue without incident. Police recovered two firearms and cash stolen during the robbery.

Police at that time, arrested 19 year old Myles Robinson, 22 year old Tremario Washington, and 21 year old Halston Smith, all Shreveport residents. During the course of the investigation, Robbery investigators, being armed with overwhelming evidence were able to connect two additional suspects to the trio of bandits and their protracted spree of armed robberies. Search warrants on the homes and property of the arrested suspects were conducted during which time, two additional firearms were seized, including a shotgun that was recovered from the bottom of a pond. The shotgun is believed to have been used in a number of the armed robberies.

On Friday November 15, 2012, warrants were procured for the arrest of the two remaining fugitives, 19 year old Myles Smith and 21 year old James Tyson both of Shreveport. Both Myles Smith and James Tyson surrendered to authorities after learning that warrants had been secured for their arrests. Myles Smith was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on the warrant for armed robbery. James Tyson was subsequently arrested by authorities in Cass County, Texas following his surrender his to authorities there. He awaits extradition back to Shreveport to face multiple armed robbery charges. Altogether the five suspects are believed responsible for at least 23 armed robberies, with 12 occurring here locally.
