2011 was a tough year for businesses on Toledo Bend, as the drought pushed water levels to their lowest recorded numbers in November. With the re-opening of several boat ramps, however, that may soon change.

J.T. Thompson owns "Living the Dream," a fishing guide business that's been operating on Toledo Bend for 10 years. He says revenues were down 40 percent last year, but he's seen some improvement with recent rainfall. "Now that it's higher, absolutely, there's some people starting to re-book and people starting to get back on the lake, because it has come up," he said.

Gil Self of Toledo Town & Tackle agrees. "A whole new breath of fresh air, so to speak. You know the lake's coming up, everybody's attitude changes, everybody kinda on a positive track and hoping it'll keep coming up," he said.

Toledo Bend reached 163.21 feet as of January 31, up from an all-time low of 159.43 on November 19.
