SHREVEPORT, La. (KMSS) — Parts of Kings Highway in Shreveport have been one of the busiest in the City and now reconstruction could soon be coming to the popular highway.
The City of Shreveport in conjunction with the Department of Transportation is planning to reconstruct Kings Highway at the intersections of Youree Drive and Shreveport Barksdale Highway.
The project has been in the making since the late 1980s and is expected to cost anywhere from 5 million to 10 million dollars and once completed could improve the traffic flow in the area.
"Its going to increase the flow because it allows the traffic to have those designated left turn lanes so it will allow more people to get through the intersection and not get caught, as they are right now," said City Engineer Andrew Zagars.
The State has started the bidding process for the project and residents could see workers on the roads as soon as this coming fall.
