Shreveport Police Officers Have Something To Smile About. After Months Of Discussion The Shreveport City Council Approved Officer Pay Raises At Their Tuesday Meeting. Come April 1st The 250- 1000 Dollar Raises Are Said To Be Able To Help The City Recruit Quality Officers. But All The Talk Of Pay Increases Has Left City Jailers Feeling Slighted.
Bryan Wooley, City Councilman
We Did Receive Some Phone Calls From Some Jailers Who Wanted To Express Obviously Their Concern And Their Wishes. We Actually Had A Representative For The Jailers Come Up To The Council And Plead Their Case.
Wooley Said The Jailers Felt Like They Deserved The Same Type Of Raise Since They Were Handling The Same Criminals And Situations As Police Officers Are Day In And Day Out.

Some Of Us Had Even Talked To Some Officers Just To Get Some Feed Back From Them On What They Think. The Officers Were Very Supportive Of Their Co-Workers And Said We Want Them To Be A Part Of Them As Well.
Representatives From The Shreveport Police Officer Association Say The Jailers Want A 2 Percent Raise. Wooley Is The Council Member Who Will Be Asking The Council To Approve The Raise Increase

At The Next Council Meeting I'm Going To Ask For A Budget Amendment To Include The Jailers So They Too Can Also Receive The Pay Raise. I Do Believe That It Should Go Into Effect April 1st At The Exact Same Time As Everyone Else's.
