
SHREVEPORT - Shreveport Police and Union Pacific Railroad conducted a joint safety checkpoint Wednesday morning.
Their goal was to promote safety for drivers around train crossings.
It lasted from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m..
In that time, officers netted 35 citations for railroad violations.
Officer Bill Goodin says the main goal was to get drivers to be aware of their surroundings, especially around trains.
