SHREVEPORT— The Shreveport-Bossier area is projected to see job growth in the 2010 and 2011 year.
The economic Louisiana forecast says the area could add 3,000 jobs in 2010 and 1,200 in 2011.
The growth comes at a good time because the GM plant is expected close, eliminating about 950 jobs.
Officials commented on the recent growing trend.
"Our area has had quite a bit of success over the last few years and its not just looking at the last few months, they've done research over a number of years and we've had quite a bit of success in north Louisiana and compared to a lot of parts of the country even though our unemployment rate has gone up a little bit, its still substantially below a lot of parts of the country."
The cities of Monroe, Lake Charles, and Baton Rouge are also expected to see some growth.
