SHREVEPORT — City workers could have a little extra in their paychecks next month.

The city council approved a plan yesterday to offer more than a thousand employees one time payments of 1,000.

Officials say the money for the bonuses comes from a recent lease of 740 acres for a natural gas drilling resulting in $6.3 million.
