A Vivian woman was arrested for taking advantage of a terminally ill friend to gain control of his finances, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
55-year-old Retia T. Adcock was arrested on Wednesday and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for exploitation of the infirm and identity theft.
Caddo Sheriff's Detective Bobby Herring, of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force, said Adcock befriended the victim and obtained a Power of Attorney over his finances. Adcock then used the Power of Attorney to receive $6,000 from victim’s life insurance policy and spent $10,000 from the victim’s savings for her personal benefit. Adcock also applied for and received credit in the victim’s name without his knowledge or permission.
