UPDATE: Suspect caught in Shelby County triple shooting

Cleveland — Liberty County officials confirm Bobby Grubbs was arrested by Montgomery County authorities at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and State Highway 105.

Bobby Grubbs wife, 38-year old Deedra Grubbs, was also taken into custody.


Joaquin, Tx — The Shelby County Sheriff's Deparment has released the above mug shot of the suspected shooter Bobby Grubbs, 42.

Grubbs was last known to be driving a gray 2002 Olds Alero 2-door, with a license plate number of DH4K251.

Officials say his is believed to be armed and dangerous.

 


One of the victims has been identified by family members as 69-year old Sam Watts.

Watts is a long-time employee of the city of Joaquin. He is now retired and was working as a maintenance worker at the Joaquin Country Inn.

Relatives say Mr. Watts is currently undergoing surgery in Shreveport.

Authorities continue to search for the shooter, Bobby Grubbs.


A manhunt is underway following a triple shooting in Shelby County.

The incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. at the Joaquin Country Inn.

According to Shelby County Sheriff Newton Johnson, the shooter, 42-year old Bobby Grubbs, shot three, killing one, a Hispanic woman in her 40s.  The other two, including the hotel's manager, were flown to a Shreveport hospital in critical condition. All three were shot in the same room.

Officials believe he is headed toward Louisiana, but a specific location is not known.

Shelby county authorities , Texas state troopers and the Texas Rangers are on scene investigating.

The motive for the shooting is  unknown at this time.

Sheriff Johnson tells KMSS Grubbs was also involved in a Conroe home invasion less than 48 hours ago.

Area schools including Joaquin, Shelbyville, Center, Timpson, Tenaha and Excelsior are on lockdown.
