UPDATE: Missing senior found in central Oklahoma

An elderly man reported missing Tuesday by family members has been found safe and sound Wednesday morning in central Oklahoma.

Shreveport Police detectives learned that 82-year old Walter Hartman, who had been reported missing by family members Tuesday around noon, is in Norman, Oklahoma, visiting his daughter. Mr. Hartman apparently hitchhiked to the bus station downtown and took the bus service to Norman. Investigators have talked to Mr. Hartman and his daughter, and he seems to be lucid and aware of his surroundings.

 Detectives do not anticipate any criminal charges to be pursued as a result of this incident.

The Shreveport Police Department needs your help to find an elderly man who apparently walked away from his Southern Hills home and has not been seen or heard from since.

At approximately 12:33 p.m. on August 2, 2011 Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a home in the 9200 block of Blom Boulevard relative to a missing person report. Family members advised investigating officers that when they got up this morning, they discovered that 82 year old Walter Hartman had walked away from his home there and was no where to be found. Loved ones told authorities they last saw Mr. Hartman last night as he was going to bed at around 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Hartman, who is reportedly suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, is described as a white male, approximately five feet nine inches tall weighing about 175 pounds. He wears glasses and is possibly wearing blue jeans. Patrol officers, community liaison officers, and detectives are all out in the area at this hour diligently searching for Mr. Hartman.
