Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - 3:10pm

The Gas leak has been repaired, however, travel on Hearne Ave. near the Greenwood Rd. intersection is still restricted.

A contractor for CenterPoint caused the leak when they accidentally cut a 6" gas line, according to CenterPoint.

Crews are expected to repair the leak within the next 2 hours.

The company currently has giant fans on site ventilating the natural gas.

The Shreveport Fire Department has placed Willis-Knighton Hospital on diversion, which means any EMS call will go to other local hospitals.

A major gas line ruptured Wednesday morning, closing a Shreveport intersection and the surrounding block.

Officials tell KMSS, it happened at the intersection of Greenwood Road and Hearne Avenue at around 11 a.m.

Police have taped off a 1 block radius of the intersection and are rerouting traffic around the leak.

Children at the nearby Queensborough Elementary School are being kept inside their classrooms.

CenterPoint crews are currently working to repair the leak. The estimated to fix the line is unknown.

Officials have not released the cause of the break.
