Caddo deputies recovered the body of missing boater, Brian Smith, around 7 a.m. this morning.
Cause of death will be determined by the Caddo Coroner.
Divers from the Caddo Sheriff's Marine Unit are searching for a missing man in a stretch of Twelve Mile Bayou in north Shreveport.
Divers entered the water just after 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon to search for Brian Smith, 37, in the stretch of the bayou underneath the Grimmett Drive bridge.
Authorities were contacted around 9:30 a.m. by a passerby who noticed the small boat partially submerged underwater. According to the Caddo Sheriff's Office, the boat was found anchored along the bank of the bayou. Smith's truck was parked about a hundred yards away on the opposite side of the bayou.
When deputies were not able to find anyone with the boat or truck, they contacted the truck owner's family, said Cindy Chadwick, spokesperson for the Caddo Sheriff's Office. "They stated that the individual had taken the boat out yesterday, and she had been trying to reach her husband yesterday evening and all last night, but couldn't reach him."
Authorities say Smith had not been seen or heard from since 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when he left home. His wife reported him missing to Shreveport Police just before 11 a.m. this morning.
