The Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office has made two arrests in connection with the death of a 5-year-old South Bossier Parish girl as of Friday morning.

At a Thursday evening news conference, Bossier Parish Undersheriff Doyle Dempsey announced that the Sheriff's Office was investigating the death of the 5-year-old girl.

Authorities say that, on Thursday morning, the girl was taken to Willis-Knighton Pierremont Hospital by her father and step-mother.  She was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.  As per standard procedure, the hospital reported the death of a child to the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death was being done Thursday night, but results have not yet been released.

Dempsey said that investigators were interviewing family members and friends on Thursday -- "to determine what has happened, and try to get a feel for what’s happened with this little girl in the last few hours of her life”

Dempsey added that the 5-year-old girl had siblings that he believes were living in the same home.  Investigators are interviewing those siblings, as well.
