A year-long investigation by the Louisiana State Police detectives led to the arrest of a 59-year old Shreveport man. The online-investigation was conducted under the Louisiana State Police Operation Child Watch initiative, a joint multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional law enforcement operation targeting sexual predators that exploit and victimize children.

Investigators suspected child pornography was being downloaded to a computer located at the house of John M. Thoma. On August 13, 2010, troopers raided his house and seized computers and electronic storage devices. The items seized, which belonged to Thomas, contained hundreds of images of child pornography that had been downloaded from the internet.

An arrest warrant was issued for Thomas in Caddo Parish on Wednesday. On that same day, Thomas surrendered to troopers in Shreveport where he was arrested and later taken to the Caddo Correctional Center. Thomas was booked on the charge of pornography involving juveniles.
