Three local men have been arrested by Shreveport Police after a concerned citizen notified authorities of a burglary in progress.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a call from a concerned citizen who reported that several male suspects had been seen breaking into a residence in the 3000 block of Woodford Street. The caller further advised the suspects took a window air conditioner from the home and put the stolen unit in the trunk of a vehicle. Moments later responding officers located a 1990 Lincoln Town Car leaving the scene of the crime with an air conditioner in the trunk. Officers attempted to stop the suspect vehicle and three males fled from the car on foot in an apparent attempt to elude authorities.
After a brief foot pursuit, patrolmen apprehended the men and took them into custody without incident. Detectives were notified and the suspects, identified as 27 year old Rokimo White of the 4700 block of Rightway Avenue in Shreveport, 48 year old Anthony Johnson of the 2800 block of Essex Street in Shreveport, and 24 year old Jeranckie Lane of the 2900 block of Woodford Street in Shreveport, were subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple burglary each.
Detectives will be following up on these arrests to determine if the suspects might be responsible for other similar crimes.
