Three suspects sought in shooting of local cab driver

Tuesday, March 8, 2011 - 1:28pm

One Shreveport cab driver was left hospitalized after being shot while on the job. Just after 7 a.m. on Sunday, police responded to the Villa Norte Apartments in the 1600 block of Fullerton Street where Danny Tate, 56, a local cab driver, was shot.

Tate was at the apartment complex picking up a fare when three male suspects approached him and robbed him, said Sgt. Bill Goodin of the Shreveport Police Department. During the robbery, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun, robbed Tate of $20 and shot him three times. Shortly after, the men ran away from the scene.

Tate was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to LSU Health Science Center by the Shreveport Fire Department. The detectives have little information to identify the suspects. They went door-to-door at the apartment complex to try to find any witnesses. So far, the suspects have only been described as three black males.

If you have any information about the shooting, you are urged to call Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
