Ten students taken to hospital after bus accident

SHREVEPORT - Ten children were taken to local hospitals after the Caddo school bus they were riding in was almost hit by an SUV.

Officials tell KMSS it happened just before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The bus was driving through an intersection at West 70th and Union Street in Shreveport when an SUV ran a red light, almost hit the bus and drove away. The bus managed to swerve and avoid hitting the SUV, but ended up running into a utility pole.

Ten children were taken to two local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the others aboard are waiting for another bus.

Police and fire officials are investigating the accident.
