Detectives are investigating an early morning shooting that left a local man injured.

At approximately 1:15 a.m. this morning, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the emergency room at LSUHSC relative to a male there with a gunshot wound to the left foot. Upon arrival, officers interviewed 22 year old Joshua Cannon who advised them he was shot by an unknown male suspect who was trying to rob him in the 2900 block of Lakehurst Avenue. Cannon told officers he drove himself to the hospital. The wound has been described as a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives were dispatched and immediately began their investigation. Investigators were able to locate a crime scene on Lakehurst Avenue but noted that some of the evidence found there did not support the victim’s initial account of the incident. Detectives are continuing their inquiries to determine who shot Cannon.

Investigators are asking anyone with any information regarding this case to call them at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish CrimeStoppers at 318-673-7373.
