Shreveport police officers arrest man for shooting gun

A local man has been arrested after a concerned citizen called police to report gunshots being fired in the downtown area.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. Sunday, Shreveport police officers responded to a call from a concerned citizen about gunshots being fired near the intersection of Spring Street and Travis Street in downtown Shreveport. Based on a description given by the caller, officers were able to stop a vehicle leaving the scene and upon further investigation, found a handgun in the car.

The occupants of the vehicle were arrested. There were no injuries from the shooting.

Detectives were notified and immediately responded to the scene. Officials were able to determine that 22=year-old Quartez Thomas had fired shots with the gun officers found in the vehicle. Investigators also discovered that the serial number on the gun had been altered. The weapon was seized as evidence and was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of illegal use of a weapon and possession of a weapon with an obliterated serial number.
