Shreveport police nab two burglars, third on the loose
Two men are behind bars Tuesday morning and a third suspect is being sought in connection with a Monday night armed robbery and attempted business burglary in Shreveport's Country Club Neighborhood.
The incidents happened on Monday at around 9:56 p.m. The reporting victim told officers that he was leaving a local convenience store at Curtis Lane and Greenwood Road when he was approached by three black men dressed in all black. Moments later, all three men pulled handguns demanding the person's wallet and cell phone.
The alleged burglars made off with their cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash. The robbers left the scene in an unknown model grey sedan heading northbound from the location. As officers were responding to the initial armed robbery call, a report of a business burglary in progress was received a few blocks away in the 4100 block of Greenwood Road. The suspects descriptions given in the burglary in progress matched the descriptions of the men involved in the armed robbery of the victim just moments prior.
As officers arrived at the business, three men were seen running from the back portion of the business wearing all black. With the help of a K-9 officer along with officers on foot, two of the three alleged burglars were found hiding in nearby bushes. The captured men were later identified as the persons that were responsible for the armed robbery of the victim at the convenience store and the attempted business burglary.
The accused burglars were identified as 17-year old Joshua Parks, and 23-year old Rashuaun Ashley, both of Shreveport .
Parks received minor injury as a result of resisting arrest. No other persons were injured. Both Ashley and Parks were charged with one count each of armed robbery and attempted burglary.
Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Shreveport Detectives at (38) 673-6955 or Shreveport Crime Stoppers at (318)673-7373.
