Shreveport police are looking for two men who they say broke into a home overnight and fired shots at the homeowner, who also had two children in the home.
Around 10 p.m. Monday night, Shreveport police responded to a call on the 200 block of W 69th Street. When officers arrived at the home, the homeowner told them that she had heard a loud noise in the back of the residence. Authorities tell us that she armed herself to investigate, in which she found two male suspects inside her home.
At that point, the homeowner fired shots at the suspects who in turn fired multiple shots back at her. Neither she nor the two children in the home were injured. The two suspects, both described as black males, ran away from the scene before police arrived. "We don't know if any of the suspects have been shot. We've notified area hospitals to be on the look out for anyone who might arrive there with a gunshot wound," said Sgt. Bill Goodin, Shreveport police spokesman.
The burglary happened in the Cedar Grove area where, authorities say, crime has gone down over the past few years. "Certainly, it's rare that we see a situation like this. When we talk about home invasions, that's not a crime that we see very often," Sgt. Goodin explained. "Typically, your burglar doesn't want anyone there and residential burglaries occur during the daylight hours when burglars know that most people are not home."
If you have any information about the two suspects, you are asked to call Caddo-Shreveport Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
