A shooting in west Shreveport has left a local man nursing gunshot wounds and his as yet unidentified assailant on the lam.

At approximately 12:40 a.m. on August 15, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting at the intersection of Hearne Avenue and Corbitt Street. Upon arrival there, officers found 29 year old Alonzo D. McKinney suffering from several gunshot wounds. McKinney was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department with what have been described as serious injuries.

Detectives immediately responded to the scene of the crime and have learned the victim was apparently driving a vehicle northbound on Hearne Avenue when another car pulled up beside him and at least one of the occupants in that car fired multiple shots at him. Investigators have interviewed several witnesses but at this point the suspects are described only as two black males.

Anyone with any information regarding this shooting is asked to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
