Shreveport police to host Neighborhood Networking Summit

Monday, February 28, 2011 - 1:53pm

Shreveport Police Chief Willie Shaw is pleased to announce the department’s Community Oriented Policing Bureau will be hosting its annual Neighborhood Networking Conference this week.

The event will be held at Riverview Hall and is scheduled for Thursday, March 3, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The theme for this year’s conference is "Do you REALLY know your Neighbors?" and will provide an opportunity for the citizens of Shreveport to learn about organizations and agencies that provide services for individuals re-entering society from jails and prisons. An estimated 15,000 Louisianians are released annually from some type of incarceration and some of them will be returning to or starting a new life in Shreveport. This meeting will work to involve neighbors, community activists and leaders from across our city in an inclusive, relevant discussion regarding such issues as education, employment, housing, transportation, and crime prevention.

There is no cost to attend and all citizens are invited and encouraged to come out and partner with city leaders to make Shreveport an even safer place to live, work, and play. Please contact the Shreveport Police Department’s Community Oriented Policing Bureau at 318-673-6950 for more information.
