A Shreveport man sits behind bars this morning after allegedly burglarizing a neighbor’s home in west Shreveport last night.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on June 8, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched out to a home in the 3100 block of Lakeshore Drive relative to a burglary. Upon arrival there, patrolmen contacted the victims who advised that when they returned home from church, they discovered their residence had been broken into and several items were missing, including a flat screen television. Responding officers immediately began their investigation and were able to gather information that ultimately led them to a suspect at a home just a few doors down from the victim’s residence.
Burglary detectives were notified and obtained a search warrant for the home where the suspect had been located. Upon serving the search warrant, authorities found the television set as well as other items stolen from the victim’s residence. Officers subsequently arrested 18 year old Hakeem Sheppard, of the 1800 block of Michel Street in Shreveport, and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. The stolen property was returned to the victims.
