Shreveport official arrested on rape charges
Mayor Cedric Glover released the following statement:
"The arrest of Rick Seaton represents the next step of what will be a long and arduous process for all involved. I want to commend the men and women of the Shreveport Police Department and the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office for the professional manner in which they have conducted this investigation thus far. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the alleged victim and her family, as well as to Mr. Seaton and his family. The ultimate hope is for the full truth to be known and for justice to be served."
Police detectives have arrested a Shreveport man in connection with a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred last week in downtown Shreveport.
Just after 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, 43 year old Richard A. Seaton, Jr. surrendered himself to investigators at the Shreveport Police Complex. Detectives had obtained a warrant for Seaton’s arrest charging him with one count of forcible rape. Seaton, of the 500 block of Atkins Street in Shreveport, was booked into the Shreveport City Jail. His bond is set at $150,000.
The charge stems from a report received by the police department on the evening of December 27, 2010, when Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to Sam’s Town Casino and Hotel in the 300 block of Clyde Fant Parkway relative to a sexual assault. Upon arrival there, officers contacted an 18 year old female who advised that she had been sexually assaulted by a male suspect at 505 Travis Street.
