Shreveport man behind bars after alleged murder for hire scheme

Tuesday, June 28, 2011 - 3:51pm

Shreveport detectives have arrested a local man after he allegedly hired a subject to kill another man.

Investigators arrested 65 year old Lawrence W. Casey, of the 1000 block of Foster Street in Shreveport, yesterday afternoon and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of solicitation of murder. Detectives began their investigation when they were contacted by an adult male victim who reported he had received information that Casey had offered to give another man a vehicle if he would murder him. Upon learning the identity of the would-be victim, the man who had been promised the vehicle in exchange for killing him told the victim of the plot and they both subsequently notified authorities. Detectives learned there had been an ongoing dispute between Casey and the victim and this plot was apparently hatched as a result of that long-time feud.

Plainclothes investigators assisted by undercover agents took Casey into custody without incident yesterday just after 4:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 100 block of Lake Street. This investigation is ongoing and detectives report there may be other charges filed against Casey.
