Shreveport man arrested in connection with May robbery

Shreveport Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred late last month in west Shreveport.

On May 25, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a reported armed robbery in the 4600 block of Bethume Drive. The victim advised officers that two male suspects approached him there and robbed him at gunpoint. The suspects received a small amount of cash and then fled the scene of the crime in a vehicle. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Detectives were notified and immediately began their investigation. Based on information gathered during the course of their inquiry, investigators were able to develop two suspects. This morning robbery detectives took 20 year old Robert Cornelious, Jr. into custody without incident at his home in the 7000 block of Karen Street. Cornelious was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of armed robbery. Investigators are working at this time to obtain an arrest warrant for the other suspect involved.
