A man accused of shooting a woman early Thursday morning in west Shreveport was arrested and is now behind bars.

At around 3:35 a.m., Shreveport police officers were dispatched to a local hospital in the 2600 block of Greenwood Road to a shooting victim in the emergency room. Upon arrival, patrolmen found 23-year old Chantai Roberts suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her lower left leg. Roberts told police a man she knew shot her at a house in the 3000 block of Dupont Street.

Detectives immediately went to the scene of the crime on Dupont Street and learned Roberts was allegedly shot by 27-year old Clarence F. Thomas during a dispute.

Based on information gathered and evidence collected, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Thomas, charging him with one count of aggravated battery.

Authorities arrested Thomas, of Shreveport, Thursday afternoon without incident. He is being interviewed at this time and will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Thomas’ bond has been set at $80,000.
