Shreveport authorities investigate late night shooting

Police are investigating a late night shooting that sent one person to an area hospital.

On Tuesday, at around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the block 2200 block of Sioux Trail in Shreveport's Cherokee Park subdivision.

When police arrived, they found 20-year old Roderick Mitchell, of Shreveport, suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Mitchell was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

It is believed the shooting suspects approached Mitchell from behind and struck him with a firearm. Mitchell tried to run and was shot at, at least once and hit in the leg.

The gunmen were described as two men, dressed in all black clothing, wearing masks and carrying hand guns. They left the scene on foot.
