Thursday, December 22, 2011 - 7:02pm

Authorities arrested two local men yesterday afternoon after reports of shots being fired in west Shreveport.

At approximately 12:08 p.m. on December 21, 2011, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Windsor Drive relative to gunshots in the area. Upon arrival patrolmen discovered several shell casings in the street and in a vehicle that had apparently been abandoned in front of a home there on Windsor Drive. Based on witness accounts as well as evidence gathered at the scene of the crime, authorities detained several male subjects. Police could not locate anyone who had been injured by the gunfire.

Detectives responded and immediately began their investigation. After completing their initial inquiry, investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between two groups of men that ended in an exchange of gunfire between the involved parties. Two of the men detained, 30 year old Nicklous Johnson and 21 year old Derrick Washington, both of the 3000 block of Fulton Street in Shreveport, were arrested and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of illegal use of a weapon.

The investigation is still ongoing and authorities anticipate other arrests will be forthcoming. Anyone with any information regarding this case is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
