Shreveport Police detectives have arrested a local man in connection with a shooting that took place in west Shreveport last month.

At approximately 4:11 p.m. on September 24, 2010, officers were dispatched out to the 2900 block of Despot Road relative to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, officers discovered that two male suspects had apparently been involved in some type of dispute over a stolen vehicle during which one of the men produced a handgun and began firing shots at the other. The victim produced a weapon as well and returned fire. No one was struck by gunfire, but several cars and two houses were damaged by bullets.

Detectives were dispatched to the scene and immediately began their investigation. Based on information gathered during the course of their inquiry, investigators were able to develop a suspect. This morning detectives and patrol officers took 23 year old Malcolm J. Wilson, of the 2600 block of Malcolm Street in Shreveport, into custody and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of illegal use of a weapon. Detectives also seized a handgun they believe Wilson fired on Despot Road.
