Bossier Sheriff Larry Deen says a Shreveport man has been arrested for a burglary in Haughton following a joint investigation between the Bossier Sheriff’s Department and the Haughton Police Department. Investigators also arrested the man and a Shreveport woman for attempting to sell the stolen items two days later.

Darren D. Holmes, 34, of Shreveport, and Katrinka Y. Layton, 30, of Shreveport, were arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a burglary that took place in Haughton on July 19.

Investigators determined that Holmes was trying to sell property that was taken in the Haughton burglary. When agents made contact with him in a local parking lot, he consented to a search of his vehicle, and detectives located a compact laptop computer that was taken during the burglary two days earlier. Bossier Sheriff’s agents also found a small amount of green vegetable material that field tested positive for marijuana.

Layton was a passenger in the vehicle sitting in the front passenger seat holding the stolen laptop computer.
