Law enforcement officers from several different agencies teamed up and worked together last weekend to help keep the streets of Shreveport safe.
A safety checkpoint was held Friday, in the 900 block of Clyde Fant Parkway, as an integral component of an ongoing, singular commitment on the part of authorities to reduce the number of deaths and injuries reported on our roadways. The checkpoint was an effort between the Louisiana State Police, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Shreveport Police Department. Officers were checking for impaired drivers as well as any other violations that could potentially compromise the safety of motorists.
During the four hour operation officers, troopers, and deputies screened 420 vehicles, resulting in three misdemeanor arrests for D.W.I., one felony arrest for D.W.I., one felony warrant execution and one arrest for felony narcotics possession. In addition, 15 citations for 35 infractions were issued.
