New Years drunk driving checkpoints planned for Shreveport

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 - 6:45pm

Law officers from several different agencies will be teaming up and working together this New Year’s Eve to help keep the streets of Shreveport safe.

A safety checkpoint will be held December 31, 2011 in northeast Shreveport as an integral component of an ongoing, singular commitment on the part of authorities to reduce the number of deaths and injuries reported on our roadways. The checkpoint will be a collaborative effort between the Louisiana State Police, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Shreveport Police Department. Officers will be checking for impaired drivers as well as any other violations that could potentially compromise the safety of motorists.

Please join us in our efforts to prevent traffic fatalities as we ring in 2012 and always remember to utilize a designated driver if you are going to be drinking.
