Man wanted for copper theft

The Bossier Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man for stealing copper from two Bossier Parish schools and a work site in Haughton.

Kevin James Hall, 35, is wanted on six arrest warrants for stealing copper tubing and wires from Green Acres Middle School and Bossier High School over last week’s Spring Break. He is a 35-year-old white male, 5’ 11”, approximately 180 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Detectives believe is he driving a green or blue-green 2001 Ford F-150 truck.

The investigation began when the staff of both schools returned to work Monday and found that their air conditioners were not working throughout most of the school. They discovered someone had cut and stolen all of the copper wires and tubing from the main A/C panel.

Video surveillance from Bossier High School on March 29 shows Hall driving his truck at the school with a large metal ladder and blue plastic barrel in the bed. The next day, he was spotted by a staff member at Green Acres Middle School, apparently caught in the middle of stealing the copper. She heard a loud noise coming from the roof area, and when she went to investigate, she says she saw an unknown white male on the roof. The suspect claimed to be making some repairs and said he needed to retrieve something from his vehicle. However, he left the area, leaving behind his large metal ladder and blue plastic barrel. The school employee saw the suspect drive away in a green Ford truck similar to the vehicle in the surveillance footage from Bossier High School’s heist.
Detectives determined Hall sold the stolen copper at a local scrap yard.

Hall caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to both schools, and the students and faculty endured uncomfortable temperatures for a couple of days until maintenance crews were able to replace and repair the damage.

Hall is charged with felony theft, criminal property damage and criminal trespassing at both Green Acres Middle School and Bossier High School. Additional charges are pending because detectives believe Hall is involved in another major copper theft that occurred on Highway 80 in Haughton last week. He is also wanted by the Caddo Sheriff’s Office for similar crimes.

Anyone with information regarding Hall’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Bossier Sheriff’s Department at 318-965-2203.
