A man who jumped on a person driving in east Shreveport last night has died.
At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, Shreveport Police received a call from a driver reporting that a man had jumped on the hood of his car while he was stopped on Line Avenue near 84th Street.
Officers found the complainant and the crazed man, who was still riding on the vehicle, near the intersection of Line Avenue and Kings Highway. Upon seeing the officers, the man jumped off of the victim's vehicle and proceeded to climb on a police unit. The man appeared to be extremely distressed and as officers responded to this erratic behavior they were able to get him under control. A short time later he became unresponsive. The Shreveport Fire Department was notified and they took him to a local hospital where he died Thursday evening.
Detectives are investigating the incident to determine what led the man to jump on the complainant's car as well as what charges he might have faced as a result of those actions.
Detectives are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of the man's death. The decedent's name is not being released at this time pending notification of his next of kin.
